From September 2014 all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes have been offered a “free” healthy school meal each lunchtime. Doncaster Schools Catering prepare the meals in our own kitchen. The menu for each week will be displayed in the notice cabinet on the top playground for your information. It is important that the school office be informed of any child with any allergy, intolerance or any medical diet so that the kitchen staff can provide the correct food for every child. This information must be supplied by a medical professional.
It is very important that you let the Class Teacher or Headteacher know if your child has any allergies or special diets for either health or religious reasons. We do require medical evidence of any allergies.

Good nutrition in childhood can help to prevent a variety of health problems, both in the short term and later in life. There is increasing concern and scientific evidence that many children are consuming too much fat, sugar and salt and too little fibre, fruit and vegetables. Packed lunches can contribute to almost a third of a child’s weekly food intake and therefore need to be balanced and nutritious. Please find attached a simple guide to support families in providing a balanced packed lunch for their child.
Please note when providing packed lunches, Tornedale has a nut-free school kitchen and is aiming to ensure that we provide a nut-free environment throughout school. We ask for your co-operation in ensuring that nuts and nut based items (such as nutella spread) are not included in your child's lunch.
